This 10-Days itinerary will take you on a grand adventure through northern Kyrgyzstan: from military mountain truck to horseback riding, shopping for goodies at exotic markets, spending time at wild beaches rimming one of the world’s most ancient and picturesque lakes, you will see the best this rugged part of the world has to offer. Starting and ending in capital city Bishkek, get ready to explore both the culture and nature of Kyrgyzstan, on this trip filled with opposites and juxtapositions.

Program Itinerary

Day 1: Bishkek

Meeting from Bishkek (Manas) airport and transfer to hotel Rich ***.
After putting the luggages and change of clothes, depending on the weather. We will start at the very heart of the capital – Ala Too Square. We will walk around and see the Parliament House, Lenin Statue, the White House, the change of the Guard of Honor, and Manas Monument, National Philharmonic.

Day 2: Bishkek to Song-Kul Lake via Kochkor valley 310kms 7/8h

After breakfast transfer to the second largest lake in Kyrgyzstan — Son Kul Lake.It is situated at the height of 3013 meters above sea level and surrounded by beautiful mountains. It is a great place where you can experience a nomadic lifestyle and relax from busy city life. On arrival, you will be free to explore and enjoy the virgin nature of the lake and its surroundings. You will have dinner and overnight at Kyrgyz yurts, which are made of a wooden skeleton, covered with felt coverings. Yurts are built without nails. Overnight at the yurt Stay,

Day 3: Song-Kol Lake to Naryn 130kms 5/6h

The first half of the day sightseeing at Song kul
After lunch we start our drive to Naryn. Naryn is one of the cities of Kyrgyzstan. It is located 186 km from the border with China, at the intersection of Bishkek-Torugart highways. Naryn is the administrative center of the Naryn region. Museums, institutes, various administrative buildings and public buildings are located here. Overnight at the Hotel Khan Tengri or similar, Meals: (1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner).

Day 4: Naryn to Tash Rabat 120kms 3/4h

After breakfast you will be transferred to the Tash Rabat Caravanserai on the Great Silk Road (Stone Castle from the 14th century). The building is unique. Tash Rabat is located at the very heart of Tian Shan Mountains. Tash Rabat was built of stone blocks inside a mountain at an elevation of 3200 m above sea level. In total there are 31 rooms in the mountain. The walls are 1 m thick. There are also underground prison cells formerly used to incarcerate thieves in ancient times. There will be a traditional dinner and the night will be spent in yurts near Tash Rabat Caravanserai. Meals: (1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner).

Day 5: Tash-Rabat to Kel-Suu Lake 200km 6/7h

After breakfast we continue our trip to Kel-Suu in southeastern Kyrgyzstan, near the Chinese border. It’s located at an altitude of 3400 m above sea level in the Kokshaal-Too mountain range (Valley of the Kok- Kiya River basin Ak-Sai ). Lake Kel-Suu is surrounded by steep cliffs on every side with lots of caves, pits and a small stone island. To fully enjoy the spectacular view of the lake, a boat ride is recommended. Overnight in tents. Meals: (1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner)

Day 6: Kel-Suu — Naryn — Kichi Naryn 150kms 4/5h

After breakfast we drive to Kichi Naryn Gorge. Lunch at a cafe in Naryn. Drive along the Naryn River, crossing some small passes. Arrive at some thermal springs. Arrive in Kichi Naryn in the evening. Dinner on the river bank. Overnight in tents.

Day 7: Kichi-Naryn to Karakol  320kms 6/7h

Drive to Karakol via Tosor Pass (or. Bokonbaevo depending on weather conditions). Stop along the way for a picnic near a mountain stream. Drive to the pearl of Kyrgyzstan, Lake Issyk Kul, which is full of color. You can take some beautiful pictures and videos here. Arrive in Karakol in the evening. Accommodation at the hotel Amir or similar. Meals: (1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner)

Day 8: Karakol — Cholpon-Ata 150kms 3/4h

After breakfast drive to Cholpon-Ata through picturesque gorges: Grigorievka and Semenivka. There you can visit three magnificent mountain lakes. Eat lunch outside near the lake. Here you can buy eco-friendly healing honey collected in the highlands. In Cholpon Ata we will explore some ancient rock paintings (petroglyphs, 2000 BC — 4th century BC), located in an «open-air museum. Night in Guest House, Meals: (1 Breakfast, 1 Lunch, 1 Dinner)

Day 9: Cholpon Ata to Bishkek visit Burana Tower

After breakfast, we drive to Bishkek. We pass through «Boom Gorge», which lies at the eastern end of the Kyrgyz Range and provides the only corridor between two Chui and Issyk Kul regions. Converging together through this narrow canyon are a highway, a railway (rising high above the road apparently it was built by German prisoners of war, the first train to travel along the 189km track to Balykchi was in 1948)., and the Chu River (so bellowed by white-water rafters). The name «Boom» means «evil spirit» – and the gorge acquired this name in recognition of the trials and tribulations it presented to anyone who tried to pass through. We will stop to explore Burana tower en route.

Day 10: Departure

Transfer to the International Airport MANAS.

Road transport in Kyrgyzstan plays an important role, accounting for 99.8% of cars and 95% of the turnover. In the early 2000-ies the total length of roads amounted to 40 thousand kilometers, of which 17 thousand km were paved.Road surfaces vary and their general state demands 4-wheel drive vehicles in good condition. The quality of roads, the weather conditions and the quality of the vehicles are decisive in calculating the time needed between destinations
