6 Days Eastern Pamir Mountain Trekking

Day 1: Murghab trekking to Pyshart (trekking 6/7 hours altitude 4835mh)

From Murghab we will drive about (35km) to Pyshart valley Gumbezdykul nomadic village.
Then we wil start to hike up the pass (4731 meter) and down to Madian valley, the car will meet on the road drive back to Murgab for overnight.
Overnight Home stay.

Day 2: Murghab to Keng Shiber (125 km, 5/6 hours altitude 4115mh)

Today we get a chance to explore the amazing landscape of this area. We drive up to Keng Shiber. This is the Pamir Highway we have anticipated, with the route between Khorog and Osh completed in 1931 across a Tibetan-plateau style high altitude terrain. Arrival to Keng Shiber jailoo (herders summer camp in yurts).
The inhabitants have rarely seen Europeans and are friendly and hospitable.
Overnight in nomadic yurt camp.

Day 3: Keng Shiber trekking to Bel Airyk pass (trekking 5/6 hours altitude 4835mh)

Walking on this area an excellent and adventures trip is hike up the Bel Airyk pass (4835m) which is a migration route of Marco Polo sheep, starts from the foot of the mountain. Ascending up the pass in four/five hours walk you can see the majestic northern wall of Afghanistan Hindikush and fantastic Zor Kul Lake.
Along the western half of the Zor kul Lake runs Afghan – Tajik border. The lake’s eastern half lied in Tajiksitan.
In 1842, Lieutenant Woods of the British India Navy Explored the Pyanj and Pamir rivers as far as the latter’s source in Zor kul. Zor kul itself is 20 km long – the road runs along its northern shore.

Wildlife observation will be undertaken during the trek. The famous and endangered Marco Polo sheep (ovis ammon poli) world’s largest-horned argali sheep, Snow leopard endangered and fully protected species, ibexes, marmot and Brown bear, fox, hare are not full list of representatives of wild life of the area. From birds one can find the mountain goose (ular) pigeons, eagles, vulture, and etc.
Good eyes and a sporting scope or more powerful binoculars are essential tools and a field guide for wildlife viewing.
These areas are all unique in their own way, and trips to these places are always fascinating.

Day 4: Keng Shiber to Bulun Kul (130 km)

Today we will drive to Bulun Kul. The most beautiful lakes of the Pamirs are Yashil Kul and Bulunkul (Blue lakes), stretched on the altitude of 3 700 meters above sea level, are situated in the Murghab district. Today we will spend a night near them. The color of water in Bulunkul is a subtle inter-play of violet and dark-blue in the sunlight. Species of fish like are found in abundance in the lake. There is the opportunity to see yaks, a unique species of domestic animals, sharing features of cow and sheep, traditionally used as a beast of burden apart from giving milk and meat products.

Day 5: Bulun Kul – Yashilkul lake Walking

Morning walking from Yashilkul lake to Bulunkul lake, ride along both lakes. Yashilkul lake to Bulunkul lake is very rich for geographical history and archeological sites. According to academic sources, “This region is comprised of the valleys belonging to the Karademur, Bolshoi Marjonai and Tshangil rivers. Ancient mines, settlements connected to mineral exploitation, tombs and funeral structures form the diversity of archaeological sites in this area” and “The valley of Bolshoi Marjonai itself is dotted with about a dozen kurgans, which are square and rectangular burial structures. The sites themselves have not been excavated, but are attributed to the Saka Period because of their resemblance to similar monuments. Overnight at the Home Stay.

Day 6: Bulunkul to Murghab 136 km

Today we get a chance to explore the amazing landscape of this area.
Return back from Bulunkul to Murghab via Pamir Highway.
