The Kyrgyz Republic is located in Central Asia. The total area is 198 500 km2. The population is 5 919 700. The official languages – Kyrgyz and Russian. Official currency – som (KGS).
Kyrgyzstan has acutely continental climate. Rainfall amount is relatively small. There are more than 200 sunny days in a year. The best time to visit Kyrgyzstan is an August & September. From May to October, you can visit the alpine pastures – “jailoo” where you can not only enjoy the beautiful nature and pure air, but also live in a real yurt, in a family of shepherds, try traditional Kyrgyz food and national drink koumiss, and feel like a true nomad. The comfortable time for hiking and horseback riding is from March to November. Trekking and mountain climbing are available throughout the year, and it is better to go climbing mountain from the end of June to October.
Nature is undoubtedly the most important landmark that attracts tourists from all over the world. The Tien Shan and Pamir-Alai Mountains are located here. Between two mountain ridges Kungey Ala-Too (“sunward”) and Terskey Ala-Too (“opposite”, “being in the shade”) there is one of the largest lakes of the world – Issyk Kul. The picturesque mountain canyon Jety Oguz, unique alpine lakes Son Kul, Chatyr Kul, Sary Chelek and Kel Suu, a huge glacier Inylchek and many other natural wonders. Mountaineers from all over the world come to Kyrgyzstan to conquer the peaks of Lenin, Pobeda and Khan-Tengri. Fans of trekking like to explore the Turkestan Ridge and lakes of Western Tien Shan. Snowboarders and skiers whole summer are waiting for the opening of season to enjoy the first snow on the slopes of Karakol, Kashka-Suu and others. Also Kyrgyzstan has rich possibilities for heli-skiing and paragliding.
