Yak Riding in Pamir Explore Zor Kul area

Day 1  – Dushanbe to Kalaikhumb, (360 km, 8/9 hours.)

Meeting at your stayed hotel, and prepare luggage’s for our trip and get start our Adventure to Explore Tajikistan and Pamir Mountains. We set off east towards the Pamirs and Kalaikhumb, driving through beautiful scenery and interesting villages en route. This area is a little more conservative, and we see many men with beards, and women wearing traditional dress. We cross the Shurabot Pass (2200 metres), arriving in Kalaikhumb in the early evening.

Day 2  – Kalaikhumb to Khorog (260 km, 7/8 hours.)

From Kalaikhumb we leave for to Khorog driving along the river Pianj. We have reached the capital of Gorno-Badakshan Autonomous Oblast (GBAO) eraly evening and get rest.

Day 3 – Khorog to Kara Jylga (401 km, 7/8 hours. altidude 3980mh)

In the morning, we meet the guide and visit Khorog local bazaar for shopping and preparing for trekking in Pamir Mountains. Then we leave Khorog driving along the Pamir Highway M41, This is the famouse Pamir Highway which is second highest highway in the world, we have anticipated, with the route between Khorog and Osh completed in 1931 across a Tibetan-plateau style high altitude terrain. Driving this day we Pass Koi Tezek Pass (4272mh), turn west side to drive up Bulunkul and YashilKul lakes, this lakes and around the scenery is beautiful and attractive for all visitors, you will have time to walk around and little hike for photoshoot, after having the picnic lunch near the lake we drive to Kara Jylga for Nomad summer pasture, The Eastern Pamirs have been populated by nomadic ethnic Kyrgyz since the 17th century.

The traditional architecture is beautifully represented by yurts, mobile habitations made of felt on an ingenious wooden frame, with the interior decoration bearing witness to the wealth and skills of the owners.

Felt and wool serve as the basis for handicrafts. Precise stones, including rubies and emeralds, are also found in the area, and these are sometimes used in local handicrafts. You will have time to explore semi nomadic pastoral life, talk with herders’ family and taste local foods and stay in Yurt Camp.

Day 4 – YAK riding day. Kara Jylga to Kara Dong (6/8 hours. altidude 4135mh)

Yak trek will take us on the unspoiled lunar landscape of high mountains and wide plateau to Kara Jylga.  The Eastern Pamirs have been populated by nomadic ethnic Kyrgyz since the 17th century. The traditional architecture is beautifully represented by yurts, mobile habitations made of felt on an ingenious wooden frame, with the interior decoration bearing witness to the wealth and skills of the owners.

After the traditional breakfast in the Yurt camp, we will prepare the luggage and get start our Yak riding from Kara Jylga to Kara Dong.

We ride to the west of a high mountain plateau to view the glazy and spectacularly beautiful lake – Chakan kul Lake. Despite its name (“Small Lake”), for most of the year the cloudless skies and pure air (4135m) give it a translucent azure color. Picnic on the lunch time, after some snack, continue to ride till Small lake. Arrival to Small Lake around 20/22km riding on the Yak, Yak owner and local guide will take care for camping and local soup for dinner.

Day 5 –Kara Dong, Small Lake to Kara Jylga and see on the way Zor Kul lake,

After breakfast, continuing to ride on the Yak, via the muddy road as far as we can to reach to Zorkul Lake. Walking on this area you can see the majestic northern wall of Afghanistan Hindikush and fantastic Zor Kul Lake.

After exploring the Zor Kul lake we ride  back to Kara Jylga summer pastures, and we stay in nomadic herders camp.

Day 6 – Kara Jylga to Khorog 368kms 7/8hours

After breakfast we drive via Pamir Highway to Khorog city

Day 7 – Khorog to Kalaikhumb 260kms 6/7 h

Today we set off in Kalai khumb, driving back through beautiful scenery, The road joins the river Pianj, which in turn forms the border with Afghanistan. The contrast across the river valley is telling, Tajikistan is undoubtedly a poor country, but in general the roads are sealed and buildings are connected with electricity. The situation barely 100m away is even starker, and it is as if the river represents not just a physical divide, but also a step back in time.

Day 8 – Kalaikhumb to Dushanbe (360 km 8/9hours)

Today we set up to Dushanbe, driving through beautiful scenery and interesting villages en route.This area is a little more conservative, and we see many men with beards, and women wearing traditional dress.Ob arrival our team will be transferred you to your booked accommodations.

Overnight: Own arrangements    Meals: (Breakfast, Lunch)
