Trekking Pamir Mountains

Program Itinerary:

Day 1  – Dushanbe to Kalaikhumb, (360 km, 8/9 hours.)

Meeting at your stayed hotel, and prepare luggage’s for our trip and get start our Adventure to Explore Tajikistan and Pamir Mountains. We set off east towards the Pamirs and Kalaikhumb, driving through beautiful scenery and interesting villages en route. This area is a little more conservative, and we see many men with beards, and women wearing traditional dress. We cross the Shurabot Pass (2200 metres), arriving in Kalaikhumb in the early evening.

Day 2  – Kalaikhumb to Khorog (260 km, 7/8 hours.)

From Kalaikhumb we leave for to Khorog driving along the river Pianj. We have reached the capital of Gorno-Badakshan Autonomous Oblast (GBAO) eraly evening and get rest.

 Day: 3 Khorog to Bashgumbez

In the morning, we meet the guide and visit Khorog local bazaar for shopping and preparing for trekking in Pamir Mountains. The we live Khorog driving along the Pamir Highway M41, This is the famouse Pamir Highway which is second highest highway in the world, we have anticipated, with the route between Khorog and Osh completed in 1931 across a Tibetan-plateau style high altitude terrain. Driving this day we Pass Koi Tezek Pass (4272mh), turn west side to drive up Bulunkul and YashilKul lakes, this lakes and around the scenery is beautiful and attractive for all visitors, you will have time to walk around and little hike for photoshoot, after having the picnic lunch near the lake we drive to Alichur for Nomad summer pasture, The Eastern Pamirs have been populated by nomadic ethnic Kyrgyz since the 17th century.

The traditional architecture is beautifully represented by yurts, mobile habitations made of felt on an ingenious wooden frame, with the interior decoration bearing witness to the wealth and skills of the owners.

Felt and wool serve as the basis for handicrafts. Precise stones, including rubies and emeralds, are also found in the area, and these are sometimes used in local handicrafts. You will have time to explore semi nomadic pastoral life, talk with herders’ family and taste local foods and stay in Yurt Camp.

 Day: 4 Trekking Bashgumbez to Zor Jol.

We start hiking from Bashgumbez Village (3900m) to Akzoo lake, on the way will cross the pass Kara – Seky (4500 m), very beautiful view of the mountains. Donkey or Yaks will carry luggage.  On the way will see marmots and other wild animals. Ak Zoo Lake is nice small lake with two or three farmers living along the lake. This little lake provides large number of fish. Today we enjoy the nomadic hospitality traditional,

Day: 5 Trekking Ak Zoo to Belairyk.

Early in the morning we start trekking towards orto Uch Kol to Kehgshiber valley where trek all away down to the Belairyk pass.Yrysbai pastoralist will meet us. This place similar to Ak Zoo summer pasture but locals with yurts. On the way will see yaks, sheep and goats. View of the valley is wonderful and you will meet local peoples. Even though the landscape is beautiful, it is very important to visit people and herders because there is high domination of nature in the Pamirs.

Day: 6 Trekking Belairyk to Zorkul

Today we start trekking higher up to Belairyk pass4800m towards Zorkul.over the pass Zorkul lake and Afghan Pamir Mountains. Yaks will be supporting us if necessary for porters and guide.

Walking on this area an excellent and adventures trip is hike up the Bel Airyk pass (4835m) which is a migration route of Marco Polo sheep, starts from the foot of the mountain. Ascending up the pass in four/five hours walk you can see the majestic northern wall of Afghanistan Hindikush and fantastic Zor Kul Lake. Along the western half of the Zor kul Lake runs Afghan – Tajik border. The lake’s eastern half lied in Tajiksitan. In 1842, Lieutenant Woods of the British India Navy Explored the Pyanj and Pamir rivers as far as the latter’s source in Zor kul.  Zor kul itself is 20 km long – the road runs along its northern shore. Wildlife observation will be undertaken during the trek. The famous and endangered Marco Polo sheep (ovis ammon poli) world’s largest-horned argali sheep, Snow leopard endangered and fully protected species, ibexes, marmot and Brown bear, fox, hare are not full list of representatives of wild life of the area. From birds one can find the mountain goose (ular) pigeons, eagles, vulture, and etc.  Good eyes and a sporting scope or more powerful binoculars are essential tools and a field guide for wildlife viewing. These areas are all unique in their own way, and trips to these places are always fascinating. Included for Price:  Camping in the flat place 4200. (Meals-BLD)

Day: 7 Trekking Zorkul to Karajilga summer pasture.

Morning we will start trekking to  Kok-Jigit Lake. These regions are nice for trekking because it is not too tough. It very  easy going trekking, from hills to hill and little ups and downs. We will have lunch and picnics outdoors.There driver will pick up us and we  will drive to Karajilga.There we will Included for Price:Overnight in yurt. Meals: (BLD)

Day: 8 Trekking Karajilga to Jartygumbez Hot spring.

Jarti Gumbez is holly place with the ruins of old cemeteries. Many people, locals, consider this region sacred and people come here with worshiping purposes. There is a nice hot spring. Every winter, the hunter from all round the world come here in order to chase their trophy animals. There is extremely nice guesthouse with a pool. Today we will finish with treks for this tour and stay in Jarty Gumbez.

Day: 9 Jarty Gumbez to Khorog 328kms 6/7hours

After breakfast we drive via Pamir Highway to Khorog city

Day: 10 Khorog to Kalaikhumb 260kms 6/7 h

Today we set off in Kalai khumb, driving back through beautiful scenery, The road joins the river Pianj, which in turn forms the border with Afghanistan. The contrast across the river valley is telling, Tajikistan is undoubtedly a poor country, but in general the roads are sealed and buildings are connected with electricity. The situation barely 100m away is even starker, and it is as if the river represents not just a physical divide, but also a step back in time.

Day: 11 Kalaikhumb to Dushanbe (360 km 8/9hours)

Today we set up to Dushanbe, driving through beautiful scenery and interesting villages en route.This area is a little more conservative, and we see many men with beards, and women wearing traditional dress.Ob arrival our team will be transferred you to your booked accomodations.

Overnight: Hotel and Guest House available.

You will pay yourself for accomodations and meals
